Each of our Esmée Bo. creations has been crafted with the utmost care. Keep these pieces forever beautiful by following these simple care instructions.
All jewelry should be stored in a soft cloth or lined box, such as the Esmée Bo. gift box your pieces came in. Keep your jewelry in a cool, dry place to prevent tarnishing, and ensure it is stored separately from other jewelry, as stones and metal can scratch when they come into contact with each other.
Regular contact with household chemicals, perfumes and cosmetics can damage jewelry. Protect the beauty of your pieces and always remove them when using body lotions, perfumes, makeup, hairspray, or cleaning products.
Environmental factors, including bright sunlight and humidity, can also damage your jewelry. We recommend removing it during trips to the beach or periods of very hot or cold weather. We also suggest removing Esmée Bo. creations before using swimming pools, Jacuzzis or hot tubs, as the chlorine in the water can damage the precious metals and settings around the stones.
Sterling Silver Jewelry:
Sterling silver may tarnish, and should be protected from wet weather and chemicals. If you live in a humid environment, storing your jewelry alongside a piece of chalk or silica gel can help to reduce tarnishing.
Delicate materials such as sterling silver are easily scratched, so we recommend cleaning it with a lint-free flannel or microfiber cloth. Avoid using specialist silver cleaners, which can remove the anti-tarnish coating and patina on your jewelry. If gentle buffing with a soft cloth fails to remove dirt and grease, try using warm water and a mild, ammonia and phosphate-free dishwashing soap. Always rinse jewelry well and never submerge pieces completely in water, as this can damage the stone settings.
Gold Vermeil Jewelry:
Esmée Bo.’s vermeil jewelry is crafted from sterling silver plated with 18ct rose or yellow gold. It should be treated with care to avoid damage to the gold layer. Unlike sterling silver, vermeil jewelry will not tarnish over time, but the brilliance of the gold can fade if exposed to household chemicals, cosmetics, and bright sunlight.
A soft, lint-free cloth should be used to preserve the shine of your vermeil jewelry. Please refrain from using abrasive pressure during cleaning, as this can damage the gold layer. If a gentle buffing with a soft cloth fails to restore the luster of your jewelry, then use warm water and a mild, ammonia and phosphate-free dishwashing soap to gently clean the jewelry. Always rinse jewelry well and never submerge pieces completely in water, as this can damage the stone settings.
Diamonds and Precious Stones:
Periodic cleaning helps to protect the brilliance of your gemstones and diamonds. An old, soft toothbrush can be used to gently clean hard stones such as diamonds, providing care is taken not to scratch the setting. For softer gems, we recommend using a lint-free cloth and glass cleaner to remove dirt and oils.
Stones may become loose over time, we suggest regularly checking your jewelry for signs of wear.
Repairs and Restyling:
Over time, your jewelry may need to be replated, reset, professionally polished or repaired. This is normal, and the result of general wear and tear. If you think your jewelry may require specialist attention, please contact our staff, who will be happy to help you.
